Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I: [X is bifanctional aliphatic chain; Y and Y' are H (except where they are H), alkyl, formula II (R1 is H, alkyl, phenyl group, etc.; m is 0, 1, or 2), formula II (R2 is H, alkyl, or halogen, n is 1 or 2; p is 1, 2, or 3), etc.; M is metal atom (except alkali metals); r is the valence].
EXAMPLE: Zinc N-(2-hydroxy-3-isopropoxypropyl)ethylene-bis dithiocarbamate.
USE: Germicides for unmedical use, agricultural and horticultural fungicides, capable of preventing pollution and damage by fungi and microorganisms to grow on films, and by slimes or algae to grow in cooling water for industrial use.
PROCESS: A polyamine is reacted with CS2 to give a water-soluble N-substituted alkylene-bis dithiocarbamate, which is subjected to double decomposition with a water-soluble metal salt to form the objective compound of formula I.
