Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the occurrence of run-out of transfusion to be surely detected from the magnitude of the amplitude of ultrasonic vibrations by providing ultrasonic vibrators on both sides of an inlet pipe for transfusion injection.
CONSTITUTION: A transmitter 1 and receiver 2 consisting of ultrasonic wave vibrators are provided in mutual opposition to a transfusion inlet pipe 3 of an instillator. Ultrasonic vibrations propagate in the order of the transmitter 1 - pipe wall of inlet pipe 3 - transfusion in the pipe 3 - pipe wall of the pipe 3 - receiver 2. The high frequency voltage of the same frequency as the natural resonance frequency of the receiver 2 is generated in the terminal of the receiver 2. This voltage is amplified by an amplifier 4 and is applied to the transmitter 1. If part of the output of the amplifier 4 is introduced into an amplitude comparator 5 and is compared with the reference amplitude having a suitable amplitude, the output of the amplitude comparator 5 becomes "1" or "0" depending upon whether the inside of the inlet pipe 3 is filled with liquid or with gas, by which the run-out of the transfusion may be detected.
