Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound useful as medicine, etc., under extremely mild conditions, in high yield, by reacting an organic thionitrite with an arylamine and a cupric halide in a specific solvent without using a nitrosyl compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula ArX (Ar is aryl; X is halogen), e.g. aryl chloride, is prepared in a short time, by reacting an organic thionitrite or thionitrate of formula R-SNOx ( R is alkyl, cycloakyl, aryl, aralkyl, or heterocyclic group; x is 1W2), e.g. t-butyl thionitrite or t-butyl thionitrate, with an arylamine of formula ArNH2 such as p-nitroaniline and a cupric halide of formula CuX2, e.g. cupric chloride, pref. in an alkyl cyanate solvent of formula RCN (R is 1W10C alkyl), e.g. acetonitrile, in an argon atmosphere.
USE: Pesticides, polymer additives, etc.
