Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title composition having good mechanical properties and high heat and chemical resistance, also good workability suitable for parement use, which comprises and asphalt and specific proportions of a particular phenslic resin composition and an epoxy resin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprising (A) 100 parts by wt. of an asphalt (e.g., a straight asphalt with a penetration of 10W300), (B) 1W100 (pref. 20W80) parts by wt. of an epoxy resin, (C) 30W250 (pref. 50W200) parts by wt. of a phenslic resin composition containing ≥30wt% of a nuclear-substituted phenol with 5W15C aliphatic chain in the total phenol (e.g., a condensate from 1mol of t-dodecylphenol and 0.5W1.5mol of formaldehyde), and if required, (D) as a crosslinking agent, an appropriate amount of an organic carboxylic acid (anhydride) such as methyl nadic acid.
