Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent producing defective products due to thermal distortion, by performing a reciprocal movement of plate material which is more than the A3 transformation point, rolling it by the finish preparation and the finishing pass, respectively, carrying out the reciprocal movement once again after cooling it to the A1 transformation point in the water cooling zone. CONSTITUTION:As the first pass in the finish rolling mill 9, the U-steel sheet pile material 14 which is more than the A3 transformation point (approx. 800 deg.C) is rolled by the finishing preparation pass 12, being subject to the going forward movement. Subsequently, the material 14 is made to perform the going back movement by shifting it in the direction of the finishing pass 13, and the finished shape is obtained by the second pass rolling with the finishing pass 13 at the aforesaid temperature.
