Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the recovery time of switching elements and make the efficient operation possible up to higher frequencies by applying an inverse voltage to the switching element of an inverter during the commutation.
CONSTITUTION: When an electric valve 2 is on, a capacitor 9B is charged by a dc power supply 1. Then, if the electric valve 2 is turned off and electric valves 11B and 12B are turned on, the electric charge in the capacitor 9B is discharged through the electric valve 12B, the lower side of a diode bridge 5, the revers direction of the conducting thyristor of thyristors S1, S3, and S5, a resistor 7B, and the electric valve 11B. If the conductive thyristor of the thyristors S1, S3, and S5 are turned off, an invers voltage is applied to the thyristors S1, S3, and S5, and the blocking ability is quickly restored. Then, if the switching element of a thyristor bridge 4 wherein commutation is made is selected and turned on and the electric valve 2 is turned on, the capacitor 9B is quickly charged again.
