Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the recovery time of a switch element of an inverter, by applying inverse voltage to the switch element by the resonance of a condenser and a reactor during commutation.
CONSTITUTION: When an electric valve 2 and an electric valve 3 are at ON, a condenser 10 is charged by the line voltage. When the electric valve 2 is turned OFF and an electric valve 11 is turned ON, the charge of the condenser 10 is inverted, and the electric valve 11 is turned OFF by the application of inverse voltage. Since voltage at the direct current side of a thyristor bridge 4 is also inverted at the same time, inverse voltage is applied to thyristors S1, S3, S5 when the thyristors S1, S3, S5 are turned OFF, and blocking capacity is rapidly recovered. When the thyristor bridge 4 is turned ON, the condenser 10 is quickly charged again through a resistance 7, a rectifier 8 and a reactor 9, and commutation is completed.
