Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:N-(Benzoylmercapto substituted acyl)-histidine of formula V: (n is 1 or 2).
USE: Drugs for arteriosclerosis or an intermediate for the novel compound of formula I which is one of the drugs.
PROCESS: A halogen substituted acyl halogenide of formula II is reacted with histidine of formula III by the Schotten-Baumann method to give an N-(halogen substituted acyl)-histidine of formula IV which is reacted with an alkali thiobenzoate or its aqueous solution to form the desired compound of formula V. The resulting compound is treated with an aqueous ammonia to afford the compound of formula I. Histidine of formula III may be any one of optically active isomers or racemic modifications.
