Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve adhesion between a support material and a magnetic layer to reduce charging of the magnetic layer by providing a layer, where polyvinyl formal is main components and a specific carbon black is included, between the polyester support material and the magnetic layer.
CONSTITUTION: On a support material such as polyethylene terephthalate, the carbon black of a surface area over 700m2/g, an oil absorption quantity over 300ml (DBP)/100g and a particle diameter below 30mμ and polyvinyl formal are dispersed in cyclohexanon, etc., in a proportion of 5:95W30:70 in respect to the weight part, thereby producing a paint. This paint is applied to the support material and is dried to form a conductive substance layer. Next, a magnetic layer is provided on this layer. As a result, the surface resistance of the magnetic layer is small, and charging is reduced, and noise, drop-out, etc., can be prevented. Further, adhesion between the support material and the magnetic layer is improved to prevent exfoliation.
