Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain magnetic recording medium featuring the excellent conductive properties as well as good adhesion between the magnetic substance and the substrate by providing the under-coat layer containing unevenly the conductive power at the magnetic layer side between the substrate and the magnetic layer.
CONSTITUTION: The lower under-coat layer 2 and lower under-coat layer 4 containing the conductive powder (carbon black of about 2μ or less grain size, silver powder, etc.) are provided on substrate of about 2W75μ thick composed of the polyester group, the polyolefin group, etc. Thus the under-coat layer containing unevenly the conductive powder at the magnetic layer side is formed, and furthermore magnetic layer 5 is formed on the under-coat layer. Layer 2 mentioned above is formed by coating the organic solvent of the resin featuring the high-adhesion properties to substrate 1 is coated on substrate 1 and then dried; while layer 4 is formed by coating the mixture of the above mentioned solution and the conductive powder of about 5W50wt% with drying. And the total thickness of the upper and lower layers is preferably about 1W2μ or so in terms of the dried film thickness.
