Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent freezing of molten metal in the passageway of a spout and improve productivity by using heat insulating material to the spout of the pouring nozzle of pouring molten metal to cooling rolls. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 5 being transferred from a melting furnace or holding furnace accmulates in a tundish 2 and flows little by little into passageways 7, 7' through spout inlet 6 along with a rise in the molten metal level. Then, the molten metal 5 is retained of its temperature by the spout 3 for which heat-insulating material having high heat insulation characteristic is used. Thus the molten metal flows without freezing and is poured toward the gap of rolls 4, 4'. It is cooled and freezes by making contact with the outside circumferential surface of the rolls 4, 4' and is thereby rolled, thence it is sent out continuously be behind the rolls 4, 4', whereby it is made to the product 8.
