Abstract

PURPOSE: To smoke an insecticidal component at a low temperature and a high volatilization efficiency safely in an inexpensive container, by decomposing an organic, foaming agent (F) in a fumigation comprising an insecticide and F through a specific fumigation inducing rod.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A fumigation comprising (a) an insecticide, e.g. a pyrethroid insecticide and (b) an organic foaming agent, e.g. azodicarbonamide, decomposable to form nitrogen mainly at preferably at 250°C or below is brought into contact with a fumigation inducing rod comprising an inorganic oxidizing agent, e.g. potassium chlorate, and the rod is ignited to decompose (b). The component (a) is smoked with the formed gas, and the fumigation can be started at a low temperature, the decomposition temperature of (b), to continue spontaneously. The high volatilization efficiency can be obtained with suppressed decomposition of (a). The method is advantageous to safety without requiving an an expensive heat-resistant container.
