Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Title compounds of formula I (R is lower alkyl) and their acid adducts.
EXAMPLE: 2-Methoxy-5-(aminosulfonyl)-N-[(N'-ethyl-2'-pyrrolidinylidene)methyl]-benzamide.
USE: since they have oustanding analgesic and antiulcerative activities, they are expected as a drug. The derivative bearing a methoxy group in the 2-position is used as a starting material for sulpiride that is a drug for ulcer.
PREPARATION: The reaction of 2-alkoxy-5-sulfamoylhippuric ester with a reaction product from N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidinone and an alklating agent as dimethyl sulfate is effected in the presence of an alkali metal as sodium to give a compound of formula II (R' equals to R) and the product is heated with an aqueous mineral acid of an appropriate concentration under reflux to give the objective compound of formula I.
