Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce static load, to make a bearing compact, and to reduce the wear of the bearing by providing at a journal bearing portion a magnet having a magnetic force acting in the opposite direction to the external static load acting on a rotary shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A magnet 10 is placed in a certain range along the circumferential direction of the side face of a journal bearing 8 which bears an external static load larger than the weight of a rotary shaft 3. The face of the magnet 10 facing the shaft 3 is in the same circular-arched surface as the bearing surface 8a of the bearing 8. By the presence of the magnet 10, the forve F' acting on the bearing 8 becomes equal to W+P-P', where W is the weight of the shaft 3, P is the force transmitted by the shaft 3, and P' is the magnetic force of the magnet 10. Thus, the static load acting on the bearing 8 is reduced, the bearing 8 is made compact, and the wear of the bearing 8 is reduced.
