Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high quality tar, easily and economically, by the liquid-liquid- solid three-phase continuous centrifugal separation of crude tar produced from coke oven, into ammonia water, tar sludge and tar.
CONSTITUTION: Gas generated from a coke oven 1 is extracted by a blower 4, and a mixture of ammonia water and crude tar is separated into each component in a tar decanter by spontaneous precipitation. Tar sludge S1 having larger diameter than the desired value is removed by this process. The residual tar sludge is continuously centrifuged by a separator 8 to remove the tar sludge containing little tar content. The ammonia water and the crude tar is introduced in a tar separation tank 11 in which the ammonia water is separated by the density difference. The crude tar is sent to a dehydrator 13 and subjected to the liquid-liquid-solid three- phase continuous centrifugal separation to separate water and tar ludge S3. The high quality, purified tar thus obtained is stored in a tar tank 14, and used as a fuel.
