Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect an insulating amplifier from breakdown due to an excessive input voltage and surely measure the contact resistance of a contact member which is unperiodically opened and closed, by controlling a switch circuit synchronously with the operation of the contact member for turning a real load on and off.
CONSTITUTION: A limiter circuit 1 is coupled between an insulating amplifier and both the terminals of a contact member C1 for turning a real load L on and off. A semiconductor switch 2 is coupled in series with the input of the insulating amplifier. A rectifier is connected to the output of the limiter circuit 1 through an amplifier. The output of the rectifier is applied to the control electrode of the switch 2 through a switching circuit and also applied together with the output of the insulating amplifier to a measuring unit through an optical coupling element 3. When a voltage produced in response to the opening and closing of the contact member C1 is excessive, the switch 2 is turned off. When the voltag is low, the switch 2 is turned on. This enables surely measuring the contact resistance of the contact member.
