Abstract

PURPOSE: An agueous poultice having improved anti-inflammatory effects, with little skin flare action, comprising a nonvolatile transcutaneous absorbable anti- inflammatory agent in the conventional poultice.
CONSTITUTION: A poultice comprising nonvolatile transcutaneous anti-inflammatory agents, e.g. a compound, such as Indomethacin, Phenylbutazone, Mefenamic acid, or a natural substance, such as a horsechestnut extract, and a mixture of adrenal gland extract, heparinoid, and salicylic acid, and the conventional active constituents. The poultice is capable of eliminating the rash due to application of methyl salicylate, which is unstable in the alkalinc region, and side effects, e.g. peptic ulcer by internal use. The poultice provides the cleaner feeling and a better transcutaneous absorption effect than the ointment.
