Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the charging rise time of developer faster and make possible higher speed developing by using the developer composed of developer particles of different kinds having different charge quantity distributions.
CONSTITUTION: E.g., 3 kinds of developers A, B, C having respectively different charge quantity distributions are prepared. The developer A comprises mixing 95wt% of styrene/n-butyl methacrylate copolymer as resin and carbon black 5wt% as a pigment and resistance control agent. The developers B, C comprises charging respective mixing ratios. The respective developers are produced by dissolving and dispersing the resin and carbon black in dichloromethane, putting the solution in a ball mill or the like, stirring the same to allow sufficient dispersion to take place, then followed by spray drying and taking particles of necessary sizes through classification. Such developers A thru C are mixed respectively at equal amounts to prepare the developer D which is then used. Thereby, the extremely faithful images with good reproducibility of medium contract to be obtained.
