Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an automatic choke of carburetor, in which choke arm means is made of two choke arms that are moved in the same direction and said two choke arms are linked to a kick-down mechanism, whereby it is enabled to allow free expansion of fluidic substance in said kick-down mechanism and to thereby improve reliability of the operation of the automatic choke.
CONSTITUTION: When the engine is started and choke valve 1 is opened by a vacuum-operated means (not shown), a first choke arm 8 is turned counterclockwise and a second choke arm 7 is resultantly turned by means of retainer arm 8a. This causes turning of fast-idle cam 3 by means of rod 5 and unloader arm 4, through expansion of fluidic substance in kick-down mechanism 14 that is caused in response to the temperature of the same, so that so-called "kick-down" function of mechanism 14 is effected for controlling the opening of throttle valve 2 after completion of explosion. As the engine is warmed up gradually and fluidic substance 17 is expanded resultantly, piston 18 is moved to the left so that cam 3 and arm 4 are turned by means of rod 20. As the result, choke valve 1 is opened to its fully opened position where it is held in contact with stopper 25.
