Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the copper mirror which is superior in corrosion resistance and stability and does not cause peeling, etc. even under sever use conditions by forming a protecting film composed primarily of nickel and a backstop coating film on the copper mirror surface film formed on one side of a glass plate.
CONSTITUTION: A copper mirror face film 2 is formed evenly on one surface of a glass plate 1 to a film thickness sufficient for letting the same function as a mirror, by an electroless plating method, vacuum evaporation method or the like. A covering film 3 composed primarily of nickel or nickal and tin or nickel, tin and copper is formed in contact with this mirror surface film and further a backstop coating film 5 is formed thereon by the backstop coating such as minium, acrylic base coating or the like. This yields the copper mirror having the protecting film superior in chemical resistance, vapor resistance and corrosion gas resistance.
