Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a machine tool which is reduced in size by assembling a chuck mechanism in a rotary mechanism to thereby simply chuck a workpiece regardless of the rotation of the rotary mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: A chuck mechanism 2, a chucking gear 3 and an idle gear 4 are associated with a rotary mechanism 1 to thereby rotate the mechanism 1 by a drive gear 5 fixed onto a drive shaft 6 through a sleeve 7 and a connecting plate 8. The mechanism 2 consists of collets 4, 5, tapered sleeves 16, 17 and a sun gear 18. A workpiece 19 is inserted into a hole 20 to be thus chucked. Since the rotation of a rotor 10 is independently executed from the operation of the chuck mechanism 2, this machine tool can be constructed simply.
