Abstract

PURPOSE: An oil repellent usable for oil resistant finish of paper, having improved film-forming properties and oil repellency, comprising a copolymer consisting of a perfluoroalkyl group-containing polymerizable compound, vinylidene chloride, and (or) (meth)acrylamide in a specific proportion.
CONSTITUTION: An oil repellent comprising a copolymer consisting of (A) 40W 70wt% of a 4W16C perfluoroalkyl group-containing polymerizable compound, e.g. the compound of the formula, (B) 58W22wt% of vinylidene chloride, and (C) 1W8wt% of (meth)acrylamide as structural units. The repellent is preferably used in the form of an aqueous suspension, and diluted with water to the solid content of 0.1W 2wt%.
