Abstract

PURPOSE: To solidify the sludge without leaching heavy metals such as Cr(VI) and the like by a mechanism wherein a noncombustible substance based on glasses or sands is mixed with a leather waste liquor sludge, a sewage sludge containing a leather waste liquor or a sewage sludge containing a large amount of Ca and the obtained mixture is melted under heating to lower the melting point of the said mixture.
CONSTITUTION: To 1W30 parts, preferably 5W10 parts of a leather waste liquor sludge, a sewage sludge containing a leather waste liquor or a sewage sludge containing a large amount of Ca, one part of a noncombustible substance based on glasses or sands is mixed and the obtained mixture is melted at, for example, above 1,100°C, proferably at 1,100W1,500°C, thereafter solidified. By this method, the melt ing point of the said mixture is lowered and the melting treatment under heating becomes easily. Moremover, the solidified substance can be reused without leaching heavy metals such as Cr and the like.
