Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain safe stable high test hypochlorite by reducing neutral calcium hypochlorite dihydrate to powder; removing most of the water in the powder at the transition temp. of the dihydrate or below; and instantaneously heat drying the powder.
CONSTITUTION: A wet cake based on neutral calcium hypochlorite dihydrate is reduced to powder, and this powder is kept at the transition temp. of Ca(ClO)2. 2H2O, i.e. 60°C or below to remove most of the water. The powder is then instantaneously heat dried in a dryer without deteriorating the dihydrate crystals. In order to prevent scattering in use, after being taken out of the dryer the resulting powder is generally granulated by a means such as compression molding and pulverization to obtain granular high test hypochlorite as a product. In the above-mentioned drying, hot air of 150°C or below is pref. used. The drying time is pref. 0.6W2 sec, and the average flow rate of the hot air 10W20m/sec.
