Abstract

PURPOSE: To clean high concentration waste water in a simple manner and low cost by treating the waste water while returning active sludge from the downstream active sludge sedimentation tank to the biological oxidation contact tank provided with aeration mechanism and filler.
CONSTITUTION: Active sludge is used in sedimentation-separation for treating water from the biological oxidation contact tank provided with aeration mechanism and fillers such as fibers, nets, etc. Such active sludge is extracted and returned to the tank. Then, microbes growing on the active sludge clean a part of polluted material in the waste water, thus microbe membrane on the filler surface is not allowed to grow more than about 5m. This allows high concentration waste water to be treated without causing clogging to the filler, thereby providing a smooth and economical waste water treatment.
