Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable casting to be done without filling molten metal in the gas vent hole by providing a porous gas vent member to the gas vent hole of the mold. CONSTITUTION:A gas vent member 5 is provided on the way of the gas vent hole 4 of a molding mold 1, by being positioned at the boundary of, e.g., cavity 2 and gas vent hole 4. The gas vent material assumes a shape such as of disc, is composed of a wire gauze or porous material provided with multiple pores to metals or ceramics and is beforehand buried in the required place of the gas vent hole 4 at the time of molding. When molten metal is injected from sprue 3 into the cavity 2, the gas evolved is released to the atmosphere through the pores of the gas vent member 5 by way of the gas vent hole 4. On the other hand, the molten metal reached the gas vent member 5 does not leak into the gas vent hole 4 through the pores of the gas vent member 5 owing to the relations of viscosity and surface tension. Hence, there is no need for the removal work of the unnecessary portions of products after casting and there is virtually no need for finishing.
