Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily identify an electrode area formed on a semiconductor chip by utilizing the optical absorption property of the semiconductor substrate.
CONSTITUTION: When the semiconductor substrate 12 is projected with a light having energy smaller than the energy gap of the semiconductor, the light passes through the substrate and reflects at the metal film. Thus, when such light is selected and used, the electrode 11 reflects the light, the substrate transmits the light while absorbing a part of it and at the back surface of the substrate, the light is diffused to the effect that the light emerging from the surface of the substrate is minimized making clear distinction from the light reflected from the electrode 11. Thus, an image output signal from a camera produces a clear distinction, thereby providing a simple and sure means to identify the position of the electrode.
