Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a partly plated synthetic resin molded article with simplified process, in high productivity, without using a masking, etc., by applying a platable plastic to the part of the molded article made of a non-platable plastic. CONSTITUTION:A female mold 3 corresponding to the main body 1 of an article, is closed with a first male mold having protrusions 4, 4 corresponding to the parts to be plated, and a molten, non-platable resin, e.g. polyethylene, is injected into the cavity between the male mold 5 and the female mold 3 to form the main body 1. The first male mold 5 is removed, and the female mold 3 is again closed with a second male mold 7. A platable plastic such as ABS resin, etc. is injected into the cavity to obtain the main body 1 integrated with the parts 8,8 to be plated. The exposed area of the parts 8,8 is plated by conventional means. The plating pattern can be made clear by projecting the part to be plated 8,8 from the face of the main body 1.
