Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a gasification wick which permits maintaining an excellent fuel absorbing performance for a long period of time, by masking with a tar-permeation preventing material at least that portion of the gasification wick which is between a gasification portion thereof and a fuel-wetted portion thereof, whereby the permeation of tar into an inner portion of the gasification wick and a decrease in the fuel sucking performance thereof can be prevented.
CONSTITUTION: A gasification wick 16 is vertically disposed in a fuel chamber 3 defined by a lower member 2 of an outer casing 1. This gasification wick 16 produced by molding a heat resisting material into a porous state so that the product thus obtained can suck and retain in a liquid phase a liquid fuel in the fuel chamber 3. The gasification wick 16 is disposed such that an upper gasification portion 16a faces primary air vents 13 and an ignition heater 15 in a vaporizing combustion chamber 10. A tar-permeation preventing material 17 is attached to that portion of the gasification wick 16 which is between the gasification portion 16a and a fuel-wetted portion 16b. When combustion is conducted for a long period of time, tar occurs on the outer surface of the gasification portion 16a. The tar flows along and sticks to that portion of the gasification wick 16 which is between the gasification portion 16a and fuel-wetted portion 16b. However, the tar never permeates into the inner portion of the gasification wick 16 since the above-mentioned portion of the outer surface thereof is masked with the material 17 referred to above.
