Abstract

PURPOSE: To operate a rotary machine to produce an output obtainable from two radial turbines, by fixing a couple of radial turbine rotors on the opposite sides of a main shaft and giving their driving power to a generator which serves as a brake disposed between the two rotors.
CONSTITUTION: Main shaft 5 is provided with the first rotor 3 at one end thereof and the second rotor 8 at the other end. At an intermediate portion between these two rotors 3 and 8, there is provided a generator 11 serving as a brake. In the first turbine, gas is introduced from inlet 1 into turbine case 2 and discharged to the outside from outlet 4 after causing adiabatic expansion in passing through the first rotor 3. In the second turbine, similarly, gas is introduced from inlet 6 into turbine case 7 and discharged to the outside from outlet 9 after causing adiabatic expansion in passing through the second rotor 8. Therefore, a driving power obtainable from two expansion turbines can be afforded to the generator 11.
