Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the takeout of stable motive power from an engine in which thermal energy is converted into the motive power through a Rankine cycle, by providing expanders, which have same kinds of expansion mechanisms, at the both ends of a rotary shaft, and by interposing a motive power takeout means between the expanders. CONSTITUTION:Expanders A, B comprise expansion mechanisms 1, 2 including turned scrolls 2a, 2b, housings 3a, 3b and turned scroll rotation blocking members 4a, 4b. The expanders A, B are integrally connected to each other by rotary shafts 7a, 7b. An electricity generator's rotor 41, which is electromagnetically coupled to a stator 42, is secured on the rotary shaft 7b. High temperature and pressure gas produced by a steam generator is introduced into an enclosed space core through a pipe 51 and then introduced into the expansion mechanisms A, B through the holes 8a, 8b of the rotary shafts 7a, 7b and fluid inlet ports 5a, 5b. The scrolls 2a, 2b are turned by the expansive force of the gas to rotate the rotary shafts 7a, 7b so that the electricity generator 41, 42 produces electric power.
