Abstract
PURPOSE: To perfectly remove mill scale, etc through pickling of one time alone by positively oxidizing the steel material having rolling scale in an oxidative atmosphere then heat-treating the same in a reducing atmosphere and further re-oxidizing the reduced scale.
CONSTITUTION: Rolled steel material A having scale layers on its surfaces is put in a heating and holding furnace 12, where it is heated to 500W650°C by radiant tubes 13. Weak oxidative atmosphere gas is being supplied in the inside of the furnace, by which the scale layers of the steel material A are subjected to oxidation and slightly grow. Next, the steel material A is loaded into a heat treating furnace body 19 of a reducing atmosphere by way of a loading vestibule 17. The inside of the furnace body 19 is segmented by a drop arch 20 to a heating zone 21 and a slow cooling zone 22. The steel material A is heated to 650W770°C by radiant tubes 23 in the heating zone, after which it is transferred to the slow cooling zone 22, where it is slow cooled to 650W550°C. This is put out into the atmosphere by way of an extraction vestibule 25 and is quenched. At this time, the reduced slace is re-oxidized by the atmospheric air, whereby fine cracks are produced therein. The scale is completely removed by the next pickling 27 of one time.
