Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain polytetramethylene terephthalate, having improved color and heat resistance, by adding solutions each containing a phosphorus compound or an organotitanium compound in a glycol respectively to the polycondensation system.
CONSTITUTION: One of (A) a solution containing at least 5.0wt%, preferably 10.0wt%, of a phosphorus compound, e.g. trimethyl phosphate in tetramethylene glycol (BG), and (B) a solution containing at least 1.0 wt%, preferably 2.0wt%, of an organotitanium compound, e.g. tetrabutyl titanate, in BG in incorporated into bis (δ-hydroxybutyl)-terephthalate or its low polymer with agitation, and the other is then added to effect the polycondensation. The solutions (A) and (B) are fed from separate inlets.
