Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease an upward thrust of a liner band and thus to improve a hydraulic efficiency by chamfering the peripheral edge of a drain notch provided in equal pitch on the outer periphery of a lower cover wall forming the bottom of a linear side pressure chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Leaked water from a guide vane 9 enters a liner side pressure chamber 11 through the clearance between a liner band 3 and a lower cover vertical wall 12. The leak further enters a water chamber 15 by way of a drain notch 13 provided in equal pitch on a lower cover wall on the bottom of said pressure chamber 11 and is then drained outside through a drain pipe 16. Then, the peripheral edge of said notch 13 has been subjected to chamfering 18 all. A static pressure on the liner side pressure chamber 11 can be decreased thereby at the time of atmospheric operation of the runner, and an upward thrust of a liner band 2 is decreased accordingly, thus improving a hydraulic efficiency.
