Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the quality of plywood or laminate prepared by limiting properly the amount of an adhesive, by detecting the coated amount of the adhesive on the surface of coating rolls and moving backward or forward doctor rolls in accordance with the coated amount.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of electrode plates 8 are spaced away from each other, and provided in the direction of the length of the upper and the lower coating rolls 1, 2 of a roll spreader 6 for plywood. A give squeezing amount of an adhesive is previously set, and voltage is applied to the electrode plates 8. The coated amount of the adhesive present on the surfaces of the upper and the lower coating rolls 1, 2 is rapidly detected by the value of measured electric resistance. The upper and the lower doctor rolls 4, 5 are moved backward or forward in accordance with the increase or the decrease of the coated amount. An error in a given squeezing amount caused by the change of atomospheric temperature or the temperature of the adhesive can be detected by this process.
