PURPOSE:To facilitate change of the number of axes by incorporating a microcomputer in a robot control unit and providing a memory for system program storage and an auxiliary memory which can edit and correct data which has been taught already. CONSTITUTION:When data is taught by the push-button operation of teaching controller 7, contents of this data are indicated from axis register 5 to driving part 2 of robot main body 1 through interface 8 in control unit 4. Then, the movement quantity of the driving part is acquired by position detector 3, and the execution value is fed back and is stored in memory unit 10 temporarily. If the process taught by the operator is not erroneous, the storage button of switches 13 is depressed to store the execution value above regularly. If it is erroneous, the teaching error is reported to the operator by a buzzer for alarm, and a new teaching process is stored when the operator teaches data again. Auxiliary memory 11 such as a cassette tape is used to hole a service program, and the program can be edited and corrected as required. As a result, the number of axes can be changed easily, and plural robots can be controlled easily.
