Abstract

PURPOSE: To make an information acquisition speed high and make a scanning method simple by obtaining peripheral tracking information on the way of pattern scanning without adopting a complicated method for pattern scanning.

CONSTITUTION: Scanner 11 using a vidicon, etc., is scanned synchronously with clock circuit 12. Shift register 13 is constituted in two lines of the number of bits corresponding to length of scanning of scanner 11, and video signals from scanner 11 are shifted successively in the arrow direction by clocks of circuit 12. Four signals of a 2×2-bit part of this register 13 are inputted to feature detection circuit 14 to detect a feature pattern where definition of the tracking direction for peripheral tracking generated from register 13 is performed. Then, coordinates of the pattern area are generated from coordinate generation circuit 15, and the coordinate position when the feature pattern detected by circuit 14 is obtained is selected by gate circuit 18 and is applied to memory circuit 17 together with the output of circuit 14, and the feature pattern and coordinates stored in circuit 17 are used to performing peripheral tracking by peripheral tracking circuit 19.
