Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately measure a minute angular displacement, by utilizing the characteristics of an acoustic optical unit to change the angle into an electric signal being turned into a voltage.
CONSTITUTION: The angle of minute angular displacement of a measured body 8 centering an axis 9 is measured in a manner described below. An acoustic optical unit 5 is placed on the axis 9. An incident beam 2 is set at an angle corresponding or almost corresponding to the Bragg condition. The unit 5 is so positioned that the output of a photosensor 10 which receives diffracted light 4 takes its maximum value. The unit 5 is interlocked with the measured body 8. When the body 8 is minutely displaced in angle, the change in the density of the diffracted light 4 is detected by the sensor 10. The output of the sensor is amplified at 11. The amplified signal is changed into a voltage by a voltmeter 12. The angle of the minute angular displacement is shown at an indicator.
