Abstract

PURPOSE: To inspect airtightness without damaging an internal pipe, by a mechanism wherein a double pipe is surrounded by means of a hollow body in an elastic material, an external pipe is pressed by enclosing a pressure fluid with fixed pressure into the hollow body and the change of pressure in the hollow body after a fixed time is measured.
CONSTITUTION: A double pipe 2 is inserted into a hollow body 1 in an elastic material through holding holes 6, 6, and one end of the dobule pipe 2 is contacted with a L fitting 14 of a fitting 12 for positioning. When pressed air is enclosed into the hollow body 1 from an air compressor 10, an inner cylinder 4 expands to oppress an external pipe 2b of the double pipe 2. When a pressure gauge 11 is observed and pressure reaches a fixed pressure, a valve 9 is closed, and the change of pressure is measured after a fixed time elapses. If the airtightness of a hollow portion 2d is imperfact at that time, the volume of the hollow portion 2d is pressed by means of the inner cylinder 4 of the hollow body 1 and decreases, pressure in the hollow body 1 diminishes and a pointer of the pressure gauge 11 falls. Thus, airtightness can easily be inspected without damaging an internal pipe 2a and regardless of the quality of materials, etc. of the external pipe 2b.
