Abstract
PURPOSE:To discriminate a defective of a cutting surface of a optical-fiber automatically and efficiently, by detecting the change of the load of a movable portion, the time required for cutting, etc. in the case when a rift is formed at a fixed location of the optical-fiber and cut by applying load to the movable portion. CONSTITUTION:An optical-fiber 26 is arranged extending over a fixing portion 1 and a movable portion 2 and settled by means of clamps 3, 4 and a rift is made up by means of a cutting tool 24. A shaft 10 is rotated, the movable portion 2 is provided with tension in the arrow head direction A and an end portion 27 of the optical-fiber 26 is cut. When the end portion of the optical-fiber 26 is cut before the angular displacement theta1 or after the theta2 of a contact switching cam 11 at that time, impulses are not generated in a circuit 23 because a contact 18 contacts with an insulator portion 14 of the contact switching cam 11. Consequently, a decision circuit 19 puts a relay contact 20 under an opening conditon, does not light up an annunciator 21 and indicates the defect of cutting. Thus, the non-defective or defective of a cutting surface can automatically be discriminated.
