Abstract
PURPOSE: To drastically improve molding speeds by filling the casting sand kneaded with the specific binder in a pattern, freezing the same to set then removing the molding from the pattern and drying the same in molding the casting mold.
CONSTITUTION: About 2% of water and about 2% of water soluble paste are kneaded with casting sand of No. 6 silica sand or other. The mixture is packed in a pattern and is frozen in this state in a refrigerator or the like. Next, it is taken out from the pattern and is dried by heating. Although freezing power weakens, the paste conversely increases viscosity and as a whole it substitutes instantaneous freezing to instantaneous caking without changing the binding power as a whole, thereby drastically improving the casting mold molding speed. Containing a small amount of phenolic resin in the casting sand improves the high temperature strength of the casting mold. As a result of pouring cast iron by using the casting mold obtained in this way, the good casting was obtained and the disintegrating characteristic of the casting mold is excellent.
