Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect a break in a mooring cable by providing a load cell at the upper end of a cable mooring a submarine structure at the sea-bottom and detecting and monitoring the variation in the cable tension.
CONSTITUTION: Load cell 13 is placed between socket 11 and metal support 9 fixed at the upper end of cable 3 mooring a submarine structure at the sea-bottom. Metal supports 9 are fitted into holes 8 by means of pins 10. Supporting member 7 of marine structure supporting structure 2 are provided with many holes 8. The variation in the tension of mooring cable 3 is detected by load cell 13, and thereby the presence or absence of a break in the mooring cable is detected.
