Abstract
PURPOSE: To uniformly mix multiple components greatly different in molecular weight and viscosity to each other by using a mechanism consisting of squeeze section, front compression section, and rear diffusion section in which the opening area ratio of the maximum diffusion section to the minimum squeeze section is specified to 10:1 or more.
CONSTITUTION: In guide section 1 where mixing force is small, high viscosity component exists as islands of mass 2 in the sea of low viscosity component. These mass 2, when entering compression section 3 in the arrow direction, are deformed to slender mass. The mass 2, at squeeze section 4, are extended into thread form and reaches diffusion section 5. In order to have a better mixed condition, the ratio of S1/S2 is specified to 10 or more, where S1 is the sectional area of the inlet of the compression section 3 i.e., the maximum opening area, and S2 is the minimum opening area of the squeeze section 4. As a further requirement, the minimum opening area S2 of the squeeze section 4 is made to 10mm2 or less.
