Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I [one of dotted lines is a double bond and the other is a single bond; X is methylene, group of formula II (n is 0W2); R1 is H, when the double bond is on the X side or hydroxyl or acyloxy, when it is on the other side; R2 is hydroxyl or acyloxy, when the double bond is on the X side and there is no R2, when the double bond is on the other side; R3 is H, ester) or their salts.
EXAMPLE: 3-Acetoxy-Δ3-cephem-4-carboxylic t-butyl ester.
USE: β-Lactamase inhibitor.
PREPARATION: The reaction of a compound of formula III (ϕ is phenyl; X' is methylene, S; R4 is ester) with an equimolar or excess amount of acid anhydride as acetic anhydride is carried out in an organic solvent as benzene to form the compound of formula I where X is methylene or S and R3 is ester.
