Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and smooth galvanized steel wire by providing a means for removing flux floated on the surface of molten zinc and accumulated from a steel wire entering portion in a galvanizing vessel to prevent occurrence of a defect portion. CONSTITUTION:Steel wire (a) is continuously run through molten lead vessel 1 for heat treatment, water vessel 2 for washing, hydrochloric acid vessel 3 for pickling, water vessel 4 for washing, flux vessel 5 for washing and molten zinc vessel 6 for galvanizing in order while being dipped in the vessels. Prior to the running vessel 6 is provided with removing piece 12 in the vicinity of a wire entering portion which piece is rotated by a motor or the like. By continuously rotating piece 12 flux (ZnCl2.NH4Cl) 14 floated on the surface of molten zinc 13 and accumulated is moved aside and removed from the entering portion. As a result, formation of PbCl2 due to reaction of flux 14 and Pb attached to wire (a) is prevented, resulting in a uniform and smooth galvanized layer consisting of an alloy layer and a pure zinc layer at all times.
