Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily obtain an ornamental board with a crater-like embossed pattern through simple equipment, by solidly coating a paste-like substance on the surface of the board, sprinkling foamed synthetic resin grains over the undried surface to place the grains in recesses and then performing drying, grain melting, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Appropriate underpainting is effected on the surface of a board 1 such as plywood or a plaster board if necessary. A paste-like substance such as a vinyl acetate paint or the like is solidly painted as a pattern by an appropriate means to provide a coating layer 2. Before the coating layer 2 is dried, numerous grains 3 of a foamed synthetic resin such as already foamed polystyrol are sprinkled over the surface of the board 1 so that the grains are solidly laid as a pattern on the coating layer 2. The thickness of the layer 2 is preferably about 0.3mm or more. The layer 2 and the grains 3 are then heated by a drier for an appropriate time so that the coating layer 2 is dried and the grains 3 are molten. As a result, an ornamental board with recesses 4 full of variety can be easily obtained by mass production through simpler equipment than in a conventional embossing method or the like.
