CONSTITUTION: Reproducing signals dependent upon video head 1 of a VTR, etc., are demodulated to video signals or control signals by demodulator circuit 3. These demodulated signals are detected by signal detector 5; and when video signals are abnormal, detector 5 applies abnormal signals to solenoid driving circuit 8 through gate 7, which is opened through reproducing sequence circuit 6, to excite stopping solenoid 9. Then, the reproducing mode is automatically switched to the stop mode, so that the check of the reproducing system can be facilitated, and malfunction can be prevented. Further, when lamps, etc., are lit by abnormal detection singals of the signal detector, anomaly can be easy to see and displayed.
