Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure display of letter images at a constant contrast by irradiating the receiving surface of a pick-up means with an intensity of illumination in proportion to the luminous intensity of the light source for letter panel irradiation in monitoring display of images of letters for printing by a photo-typesetting machine.
CONSTITUTION: Desired letter images on a letter panel 2 irradiated by the light source 1 are projected on a photosensitive material on a photosensitive drum 7 through a main lens 3, a mirror 4, a shutter 5, a mobile optical system 6 and the like. In addition, a letter image identical to the printing image is projected on a receiving surface of a pick-up means 10 through an optical path ramifying half mirror 8 and a lens 9 and reproduced on a display means 12. The second light source 14 is driven by a light quantity adjusting circuit 15 to be actuated according to the signal from a brilliance detector 13 to irradiate the surface 11 with an intensity of illumination in proportion to the brilliance of a printing light source. With such an arrangement, it is possible to display any desired letter image at a constant contrast without any blurring and beveling.
