Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a high quality vibration-damping material, useful as a lining of a sonar room of a ship, by heating a mixture of an epoxy resin, a polyamide resin and lead particles to attain a viscosity of a specific range, and casting and curing the composition in a mold.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 Parts by weight of an epoxy resin having a viscosity of about 0.9W1,000 poise at 25°C and a molecular weight of about 300W2,000, and flowable at a temperature between room temperature and 100°C, is mixed with (B) 200W1,000 parts of a polyamide resin having a viscosity of about 3W1,000 poise at 25°C and an amine value of about 280W320, and (C) 50W200 parts by weight, based on 100 parts of (A)+(B), of lead particles having an average particle diameter of 0.2W2mm. The mixture is heated at a proper temperature for a proper time to attain a viscosity of 2,000W4,000 poise, poured into a box-shaped mold, and left to stand for a definite time interval to obtain a cured plate having a hardness of 35W95.
