Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure an invariabley-accurate moisture value without reference to variation in the density of a grain layer by measuring the density of the grain layer by detecting the quantity of reflected light projected upon the grain layer by a photo detecting element, and then by making a correction to the standard density of the grain layer.
CONSTITUTION: Grains supplied from grain-feed hopper 1 to moisture measurement chamber 2 cover anode 4 of sensor 3. Measurement chamber 2 is provided with light emitting diode 11 and photo detecting element 12 and when the density of grains supplied into measurement chamber 2 is lower than the standard density, the quantity of detected light by photo detecting element 12 lessens and controller 13 turns pulse motor 8 to reduce outlet 6 by switching valve 7. Consequently, a grain layer in measurement chamber 2 is compressed to correct the density to the standard value, and then detecting element 12 detects that to stop pulse motor 8.
